This morning I passed up a run with the most motivating person I know for some extra sleep. Made a few choices like allowing my kids a last minute sleepover which caused me to lose alot of sleep last night. All my loss! So awakening a few hours later - I was faced with at least five miles on my own. The biggest obstacle that I have to overcome in running long distance is my "I can't" brain. The way I do that is just get my butt out the door and then use music to get me through. I have also learned that I am a slow starter, but once I get into my run or workout I have the endurance to keep me going. Today was no different. The first two miles I spent wishing I had already run with Anna. Once I finally got warmed up and on my way, the next three were smooth. Felt good and was able to push hard through the end. Found the perfect song for the last half mile and now get to set here feeling the success of breaking through the mental obstacles again. Each time I am able to do this I feel like maybe it chips away a little bit at the "I Can't" brain. At least I can hope!!
